Thrift with me: 5 finds under $30

Two hours, three shops, five keepers — including the wool blazer of my dreams for $22. My exact thrifting route and rules.

Thrift with me: 5 finds under $30

Saturday, 10am, three shops, a hard $100 limit. Came home with five pieces for $87 total, and one of them might be the best blazer I own now. Here’s how the morning went and the rules that keep thrifting from becoming hoarding.

The five keepers

  1. Wool blazer, fully lined, fits like tailoring — $22
  2. Broken-in straight leg jeans, the wash fast fashion keeps failing to fake — $14
  3. Silk scarf that upgrades every coat I own — $6
  4. Chunky fisherman knit, zero pilling — $25
  5. Leather belt, solid brass buckle — $20

My three thrifting rules

  • Check fabric before size — natural fibers first, the tag decides in five seconds
  • If it needs more than a hem to work, it goes back
  • Walk the men’s knitwear aisle. Always. That’s where the good sweaters hide
Thrifting rule zero: you’re not looking for something to buy, you’re looking for something you’d already own.

Total damage: $87, one tote bag, and the smug glow of someone who will absolutely mention the blazer was $22 every time she wears it.
